Cro over Mac to ship this week

Reader Greg Taylor advises that Codeweavers' WINE-based Win32 a lication runtime Cro over is due for release during Macworld. The release version should be downloadable for registered users sometime this week.

It remai to be seen how well Cro over will do up agai t more traditional virtualization a roaches like Parallels and VMWare. It's true that Cro over lets you run Windows a without the overhead (or lice ing cost) of Windows, with varying degrees of compatibility; but with Parallels' new Coherence mode allowing mix-and-match Windows a licatio 'floating' in the Mac UI, and enough RAM, it may not be an easy sell.
