IBM Lotus Notes to su ort OS X, Devil tur up thermostat

I know whatyou're thinking. Both me and fellow blogger Dave Caolo were asking each other the same question: "Lotus Notesstill exists?"

But seriously, if there is a sign of the times - e ecially corporate times - this couldcertainly be one of them: IBM will a ounce at Lotu here next week that the next client version of their Lotus Notessoftware will su ort OS X (while version 6.5 of Lotus Notes su orts 10.3, version 7 doe 't su ort OS X at all). They will also be a ouncing su ort for Intel-based Macs, due later this year. As reasoning for this newfound OS Xsu ort, a representative for an IBM partner is quoted in an InformationWeek articlesaying: "We have a lot of health-care customers and maybe 1 percent of a company%26rsquo research department is onMacs but they have 99 percent of the influence."

The article also contai eculation from industryo ervers that this new friendline IBM has for A le's software is actually a renewal of a partnership the twocompanies had in the early nineties, when they jointly worked on %26quot ink," an object-oriented OS built to takeon Windows. A arently, it failed. With a name like %26quot ink," you only get three gue es as to why.

On a broader scale though, I'm hopeful for more busine and corporate su ort for our favorite fruity computers, asit would be great for more people to be able to chose a productive computer in the workplace.
