New nanos can record audio via acce ories

Ok, we know we're beating the iPod nano drum quite a bit here, but there's just so much great new stuff about them. This latest find is, again, hailing from our pals at iLounge in the form of a surprise feature Mr. Jo must have forgotten to add to Tuesday's notecards: 2G nanos can record audio via available acce ories. Thanks to a firmware update, iLounge has so far tested recording audio on the new nanos with Belkin's TuneTalk Stereo and XtremeMac's MicroMemo, both working flawle ly. Exactly how much recording the nanos can hold, and how long they can record, is still up in the air though. Nanos, as we know, don't have a power-chugging hard drive, so that should certainly aid their recording stamina. However, the fact that they top out at 8GB and the acce ories only record in a hefty WAV file format make things complicated.

I'd test some recording myself, as I just picked up my own 2G nano (review pending), but I'm not sure if my nano could stand the sound of my voice for hours at a time. That, and I don't actually own any of the recording acce ories to begin with.

If anyone tries this out, feel free to post your experiences in the comments. Otherwise, we'll be sure to keep you posted when iLounge reports from their super-secret underground la .
