Weekend Review: this week's software for 8-20-06

It wa 't a groundbreaking week for software releases and updates, but neverthele - the show must go on. Here's another weekly roundup of software, firmware, updates and bug fixes for your 'I was too busy to catch it the first time' pleasure (kidding):

  • NewsFire 1.4 build 68 - one of the first a to add Leopard compatibility, along with other minor updates
  • TextExpander 1.4 - all sorts of juicy new features to the time saving text typing utility
  • FlickrExport 2.0.1 - bug fixes a Flickr API update
  • FlexTime 1.0 - not your grandma's timer; build routines, use sound alerts and even trigger scripts
  • Logic Pro/Expre 7.2.2 - Mac Pro compatibility and enhanced su ort for built-in audio ports
  • Xsan Filesystem 1.4 - numerous updates to A le's Enterprise file storage and acce software
  • MailTags 2.0 beta - a stellar Mail.a organizational tool gets even better with IMAP tag syncing, tag sharing, UI integration and much more

  • Unit Conversion plugin for Quicksilver - a quick way for converting miles, pounds, etc. right from within QS
  • del.icio.us plugin for Quicksilver updated - plays nicely with the new del.icio.us API
  • Boot Camp 1.1 beta - A le adds Mac Pro intel compatibility and usability updates to A le's 'run Windows on your Mac' utility
  • Google Notifier - formerly Gmail Notifier, the search giant updates their tool with Google Calendar su ort
Donationware
  • Delibar 0.8.2 - fix for the del.icio.us API change
Open Source
  • CocoaFox Minefield - an alpha release of a Cocoa version of Firefox, complete with Mac OS X Services compatibility, even the built-in ell-checking engine
  • Q - strangely named virtualization tool that beat Parallels to the punch with ru ing Vista on Intel Macs

Software Update
  • MacBook SMC Firmware Update 1.0 - quite po ibly the end to your mooing MacBook
